[ASKKPOP] 10 Underrated Songs Of 2014

2014 produced a lot of great songs. And many of them, unfortunately, were overlooked and passed along. We've compiled a list of ten overlooked, underrated songs that you probably missed this past 2014, but totally should check out. Because they are awesome.

1.HA:TFELT"Ain't Nobody"

"Ain't Nobody" was one of the songs that I was able to really relate to this year as it narrated the exact feelings I was experiencing and more. The distressed dubstep sounds describe the mixed feelings of hysteria and anxiety while Yenny hits the high notes to express state of panic. "Ain't Nobody" is a real tear-jerking song that triggers many mixed emotions, but it is also therapeutic knowing that you are not alone with these feelings.

2.Yoon Mi RaexTiger JKxBizzy"Angel"

The trio always manages to create inspiring masterpieces every time they collaborate. The song was released towards the end of 2014 and it was one of the best song I have heard this past year. From Yoon Mi Rae's powerful chorus to Tiger JK's signature staccato-style flow, "Angel" not only has an amazing hook but also has meaning and inspiring phrases that resonate throughout the song.

3.Jung Joon Young"Teenager"

"Teenager" is a great mix of pop, rock, and Jung Joon Young's sharp belting. The lyrics to the song are the most relatable, especially for those who are feeling that quarter-life crisis as it talks about how much things have changed since being a teenager. No matter how much have changed, there is a kid inside all of us. With "Teenager," Jung Joon Young reminds us that although we can't go back to the time we were young, it's okay to let loose once in a while .

4.g.o.d"Sky Blue Promise"

g.o.d brings back the 90's with their release of "Sky Blue Promise." This song has everything that we like about the 90's from the clean-cut melody to the brief call and response and even the distinct staccato rap flow. This song brings smiles to your face, warmth in your heart, and overall just happy feelings all over.

5.Wheesung"Night and Day"

Wheesung made an epic comeback in the industry with his album, 'Night 'N Day.' All six tracks in the album did great in terms of charts in Korea, but it failed to translate overseas. The legendary singer-songwriter manages to highlight his voice and range with the song, affirming his status as one of the top R&B artists in Korea. Wheesung really keeps the listeners on a constant high with the song, which has sentimental lyrics and beautiful but soft instrumentals.

6.SwingsxAilee"A Real Man"

Before enlisting in the military, Swings collaborated with vocal powerhouse Ailee for this great track, "A Real Man." Swings' flow and Ailee's outstanding vocals are exceptional in this track, but the real focus here should be the message that Swings is trying to relay. The song tries to relate to all the women out there who are struggling to maintain their status in society while preserving stereotypical womanly qualities in order to be accepted.

7.MAMAMOO"Mr.Ambiguous"

MAMAMOO has to be one of the most underrated groups in K-Pop period. It's hard to deny their vocal skills, especially in their debut track, "Mr.Ambiguous." This retro and soulful track grabs the listeners' attention firstly by their vocals and secondly by the attitude in their voices. The most impressive part was the rap, which was flawlessly incorporated into the song. The whole 60's feel really highlights their high-alto vocals, and their dream-girls like concept is tastefully done.

8.10cm"Sseudam Sseudam"

From the people who brought you the delightful sounds of "Americano" and a wonderful remix of "Officially Missing You," indie band 10cm placed high in music charts with "Sseudam Sseudam." The song is just as soothing and feel-good as their past releases, if not more. The song is bubbly and cheerful, just like the sound of falling in love again for the first time.

9.LOCO"Hold Me Tight" feat.Crush

There were heaps of underground rappers that have garnered much attention, especially after the last season of 'Show Me The Money.' Amongst them, LOCO stood out the most with "Hold Me Tight," a comforting track that is sure to become your best companion during those lonely nights. The soothing piano intro leads into a layer of soft bass and a nice balance of percussion sounds. Crush also slays his high notes in the chorus.

10.Michelle Lee"Without You"

'K-Pop Star's Michelle Lee released a compelling song that inspired those who were feeling disheartened from the constant rejection in society. I'm sure many of us can relate to the song, especially because we all have personal hardships that we hope to share but are scared to admit. The song digs deep, but also brings you back up with simple, yet uplifting words that say, "I'm beautiful without you, I'm meaningful without you."
