2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards Announces Nominees + Voting Begins

The nominees have been announced for the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards (hereafter 2018 MGA), which is the first year for this awards ceremony.

In order to be eligible, the music must have been released between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018. The nominations were chosen based on Genie Music’s chart data during this time period.

The criteria for the final winners are as follows:

Daesangs

Artist of the Year – 30% votes, 30% Genie Music digital song scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Song of the Year – 20% votes, 40% Genie Music digital song scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Best Selling Artist of the Year – 10% votes, 50% Genie Music digital song scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Digital Album of the Year – 10% votes, 50% Genie Music digital album scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Special Award

Genie Music Popularity Award – 100% votes

Artist Category Awards

Male Artist Award, Female Artist Award, Male Group Award, Female Group Award, Male Rookie Award, Female Rookie Award, Discovery of the Year – 30% votes, 30% Genie usic digital song scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Song Genre Awards

Dance Track (Male), Dance Track (Female), Vocal Track (Male), Vocal Track (Female), Rap/Hip Hop Music Award, Band Music Award, OST Award – 20% votes, 40% Genie Music digital song scores, 20% judge panel, 20% social media

Voting takes place on the Genie Music website from October 1, 2018 through October 31, 2018. Only verified Genie Music members can vote, with regular members allowed one vote per category per day and paid members allowed three votes per category per day.
