Aside from the guessing game of who the husband is, the recurring theme of family can be found in each “Reply” series installment. While the characters may switch up, what remains constant are the parents. Song Dong Il and Lee Il Hwa have reprised the role in absolute perfection. There isn’t anything these two parents can’t handle. Additionally, the “Reply” series will have you wishing you had all sorts of siblings to share food with, get scolded alongside, and much more.

3. Good Doctor

“Good Doctor” follows the journey of a doctor that is different from the others. As he navigates the rough terrain that is the medical field, we see a plethora of characters step up to the plate and stand up for what’s right. While the connections to family are not as explicit, this medical drama starring Joo Won and Moon Chae Won centers around siblings. Specifically, the recurring theme of brotherhood is one of the beauties of the drama, and helps viewers understand the intricacies of the characters. Of course like any good drama, the relationships appear rough in the beginning, but shape up later.

4. Father is Strange

“Father is Strange” follows a family whose father (Kim Young Chul) has quite an interesting past. You can just imagine what else stirs up when a random idol (played by Lee Joon) shows up claiming that he is also a part of this family. This drama really makes you wonder what secrets your parents could possibly be harboring. While the issues the parents face are at no fault of their own, it shows you just how far parents will go to make a better life for their children.

“Shining Inheritance” stars Han Hyo Joo and Lee Seung Gi, and is a classic when it comes to dramas about family. The drama is a Cinderella story that goes deeper into what it means to repair and reunite families. While the drama is full of twists and turns, one of the largest driving forces in the drama is family. Whether that is Eun Sung’s love for her younger brother Eun Woo or the relationships between an heir inheriting the company from their parents or grandparents, this drama will get you thinking about how strong the ties of family are.

6. What Happens to My Family?

As a parent, all you can wish for is your children to be happy, and that is exactly what main character Soon Bong, played by Yoo Dong Geun, pursues throughout the drama. Of course, his kids, starring Kim Hyun JooYoon Park, and Park Hyung Sik, are anything but happy. They’re lost, angry, lazy, sad, and so much more, but it’s the journey they each go through that makes this drama an absolute ride to hold onto.

7. Father, I’ll Take Care of You

This lighthearted drama focuses on empty nesters who suddenly have a full nest again. We get to see that siblings really haven’t changed that much since children and how their parents handle it. The situation also alludes to the high costs of living (and existing), an issue many new generations of adults are facing. If it’s as fun as it is depicted in the drama, then maybe living at home as an adult isn’t that bad!

8. Ojakgyo Brothers

If there is anything we have learned from dramas revolving around family, it’s that they need to live together. “Ojakgyo Brothers” is about (surprise!) a family that lives together on a farm. This star-studded cast including UEEJoo Won, and more, are sure to make you laugh with the excitement that entails from so many people living together. These dramas are always like an onion and require some peeling to get to the real truth. The characters, connected plots, and much more, are what make their stories so interesting!
