Abnormal Touches on Female Artists, How Do We Stop This?
With the sudden fan trying to kidnap Taeyeon while she was singing on stage, the music industry says that “this can happen any time.”
This is because there are way too many hardcore fans and security staff are also ruling out some of the least possible thing that can happen in their security management. With the popularity of idols increasing, the actions of the fans are becoming more and more absurd.
One manager of a sexy female artist said that the actions of the male fans at an event far exceed what should be allowed. This manager said “when I am walking back to the van with my artist, some fans think that my body is that of the female artists, and try touch me in inappropriate places. It’s hard to even see who it is since there are too many fans surrounding us.”
Another manager who is in charge of a famous idol group said “Some fans lose their minds and just rush at the members, and since we have to get sensitive about this, our voices have to get raised. Whenever the security team is pretty new to the industry, everyone, the members and the managers, all end up getting hurt.”
These kind of incidents occur frequently in promotional events and live stages. This is because unlike shows that happen in the broadcasting companies, it is hard to know the faces of every staff member. When a fan just walks up to the stage, the artists can easily think that the person is a staff member who came up to fix a problem. One music program staff said “It’s hard to accept to appear at promotional events. When the artists arrive, the stage is sometimes too close to the audience, the music quality is lacking, and the security is very bad. Most of these promotional events, the artists are risking themselves to some kind of danger.”
The only way to prevent this from happening to ask for the event holders to pay attention to these points. One manager said “It’s very difficult for artists to do anything against fans when this type of thing happens. So some fans repeatedly do this since they remain untouched.”
SNSD’s Taeyeon was grabbed by a man who walked up to the stage while she was performing “Run Devil Run” with her members at a promotional event. The fan was immediately taken out but fans and SNSD were all surprised.
Also Wheesung was almost attacked at a live show on the 8th. One male audience jumped onto the stage and tried to attack him during his performance. He quickly evaded and finished his stage after the fan was taken into custody.
