[ASKKPOP] Actress Ryu Hyun Kyung regrets turning down offer to join YG Entertainment as a trainee

The July 14 airing ofSBS Power FM'Kim Chang Ryul's Old School' featured actorsKim Dong Wookand Ryu Hyun Kyung, both of whom were cast in film 'Three Summer Night.'

Ryu Hyun Kyung, who is famous for rejecting an offer from a past YG manager 30 years ago to join the label as a trainee, expressed regret in missing the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. When the DJ asked her, "How do you feel when you watch shows like 'Show Me the Money 4'?" the actress joked, "I can't control this hip-hop energy that is boiling inside me."

The actress told the tale of how she was scouted by a YG manager at aJinuseanfan signing event. She said, "In my school days, I went to the Jinusean fan signing event held at the Independence Gate. I was just dancing and rapping along to the music that was playing. But one of the representatives came up to me and asked in a joking manner,'Do you want to be a trainee at YG?' However, because I've been acting since I was a child, I held a sort of pride as an actor, so I denied his offer by telling him that I was an actress. It's the moment I most regret in my life."

When asked whether she has any intention to rap again, the actress replied, "Last year I rapped on a certain program. I thought I did well when I practiced, but when I actually got on stage, I was too nervous so I just ended up yelling. I thought, 'I can't do this. I don't have the natural ability.' I will just settle for [rapping] at karaoke."

Kim Dong Wook added, "If that YG manager saw that broadcast, imagine how shocked he would have been," causing everyone to burst into laughter.
