[Album & MV Review] T-ara - 'So Good'

T-arais back with their 11th mini-album following their Chinese tour. The veteran girl group has four new tracks for you on their new EP 'So Good,' teaming up withBrave Brothersfor their newest release.  It's been almost a year since "Sugar Free," so let's find out how they did this comeback.

The girls are in fine form with "So Crazy." A bright, poppy tune, this one has some sweet hooks and a very danceable beat.Brave Brotherspenned a typically cool song here, with almost no recycled or cloned material (unusual for that team). The girls are singing about how they're "So Crazy" for their man.



"The Reason We Broke Up" is a mid-tempo ballad. It's got some instrumentation I haven't heard before in a ballad, like accordion and harmonica (whichEunjungseemed to be playing in their Showcase). It works well, simply because it's a bit different. I like the nonsense vocals during the breaks, too.T-aratends to do things a bit divergent with their ballads, and this song is a good example of a ballad done right. The lyrics are about how the singer just can't love the guy anymore.

"For You" is bold and brassy, both vocally and instrumentally. After a bit of a light, sparkly intro, the track launches into breathy crooning alongside trumpet blasts. The chorus is where they unveil the awesome hooks, and the girls sound powerful doing it.  They break out some idol rapping here, also, which, while not amazing, works extremely well in this high-energy song. To me, it's even better than the single. It's all about how the girls are falling for their guy.



I like this album a lot. If I had one quibble, it would be that it's too darn short! We have three different versions of the same song, one an instrumental and one is the Chinese version. So, in reality we have three new songs. Some definite points off for that one. Still, I like it. The new single is bright like the summer sun, and "For You" is a simplydaebaktrack. Even the ballad's no slouch.  I want more for a comeback, though. Maybe for December?T-arafighting!

The girls ofT-araturn all heads in their newest MV!

In typicalT-arafashion, the girls have released a drama MV. However, unlike some of the darker ones they've released in the past, this is more fun. Working at a cafe,Boram, Qri, Soyeon, Eunjung, Hyomin,andJiyeondecide to enter a beauty competition. Up against them: theirahjummaboss-lady.

The dancing is not bad and in sync, even if it doesn't look all that complex. It seems to emphasize a lot of hip action, which does a lot to entice, I can say that much.



The costumes are pretty appropriate for the scene. They wear kinda baggy, sexless jumpsuits when they're working, and transition to hot short-shorts outfits when dancing and in the competition.

This was loads of fun, as I would expect when watching aT-aravideo. We're seeing a lot more indoor videos now that summer is in full swing. Maybe the producers figure we've seen enough of the outdoors? I dunno, but I laughed and smiled a lot here, and some of the comedic scenes work well. I have to give this one a thumbs up.
