BLACKPINK Reveals The Surprising Inspiration For Their Unique Light Stick

BLACKPINK has shared the story behind the creation of their new light stick!

On the June 23 episode of JTBC’s “Idol Room,” the girl group talked about the unique design of their recently unveiled light stick, which resembles a toy hammer with two pink hearts.

When host Defconn asked the idols about the concept behind their light stick, Jennie began to explain, “We were inspired by ‘Weekly Idol’—” before realizing her own mistake and abruptly cutting herself off in horror.

Apologizing profusely for having accidentally mentioned “Weekly Idol,” which Jung Hyung Don and Defconn left earlier this year, she jokingly hit herself on the head with her light stick and corrected her earlier statement. “I’m so sorry,” she said. “We were inspired by a certain variety show.”

Jennie went on to elaborate, “[During our appearance on ‘Weekly Idol’,] I was hit on the head with a toy hammer. Later on, when we were designing our light stick, I kept remembering that moment.”

Jisoo and Rosé laughingly chimed in, “We thought, ‘That’s it!'”

Jung Hyung Don then asked the BLACKPINK members if he could keep one of the light sticks, calling it “really pretty,” while Defconn enthused, “I think the idea [for the light stick] is great.”
