BTS has set a new record on Spotify!

BTS’s “Fake Love” just became the most-streamed song by a K-pop artist on Spotify of all time.

And it only took seven months to hit this latest milestone. BTS unseated viral sensation Psy’s “Gangnam Style” earlier this week.  The emo rap hit currently has over 184 million streams while “Gangnam Style” has over 183 streams. “DNA” is close behind at over 181 million streams.

In classic BTS fashion, that’s not where the record-breaking ends. Earlier this month, BTS became the second most-streamed group on Spotify in 2018after Imagine Dragons. Stats from Spotify Wrapped also revealed that “Fake Love” was the No. 1 K-pop song on the streaming service this year.

The septet has their streaming bases covered. A few weeks ago, “Fake Love” became the septet’s fourth music video to reach 400 million views -- while “MIC Drop (Remix)” became their fifth last week. BTS also became the first Korean artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Apple Music.

This latest Spotify achievement is another addition to a mountainous pile of record-breaking achievements. While 2017 was took BTS’s overseas momentum to a new level, 2018 sealed their place as the world’s biggest boy band. Their milestones were omnipresent and wide-ranging, including a speech at the United Nations, an $18.5 million haul at the box office and two No. 1 albums. We can only anticipate what 2019 has in store for BTS.
