Big Hit Gives Brief Response To Politician Saying He Wants BTS To Perform In North Korea

January 9, Assemblyman Ahn Min Seok of the Democratic Party of Korea stated once again that he would be pursuing a concert in Pyongyang featuring BTS and other Korean artists.

The concert would be a celebration of the first anniversary of the Pyongyang Joint Declaration made during the third North-South Korean summit in September 2018. In response, Big Hit Entertainment gave a short statement neither confirming nor denying the news.

The agency said to Sports Chosun, “At this moment in time, we have nothing to say regarding this concert.”

The Assemblyman said he approached BTS’s side about the concert at the end of last year, asking if their schedule could be adjusted to accommodate the event.

The concert, which has yet to be confirmed, would be held at the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium, or the May Day Stadium, currently the largest stadium in the world with a capacity of 150,000.

Assemblyman Ahn Min Seok first expressed his desire for BTS to perform in Pyongyang late last year. Responses were mixed, with some fans protesting the idea and saying that BTS should not be used as a tool in political matters.
