D-1 Until End of Dream High, What Did We Fall For
The drama that shows teenagers’ passion to become a star, “Dream High” will end its story tomorrow. The unpredictable love line and story is keeping the audience on their toes for the last episode. What qualities of Dream High made the fans fall for it so much.
The first thing that caught attention was the fresh cast. Ok Taecyeon and Wooyoung from 2PM, Miss A’s Suzy, T-ara’s Eunjung, and lastly with IU, Dream High has the top idol singers as its cast. This caused some controversy as to whether or not their acting will be satisfactory but it was enough to spark interest. These stars had to go through auditions to become the cast of Dream High and are improving their acting every episode. Especially, casting Kim Soo Hyun is deemed as the best decision that the producers made. His acting as Song Sam Dong as well as his singing and dancing are top notch. The acting of the cast was enough to change the popular belief that idols cannot act.
The most popular thing about Dream High is the fact that it incorporates dance and song into drama. Each episode had lots of new songs and performances and they were able to keep the eyes and the ears of the audience entertained. These idols showed off their practiced dancing and singing, and improved their acting with lots of extra practice. Their attempt to get better at acting was just like the characters in the drama that were practicing to become top stars. Each episode featured some type of battle, such as the showcase, dance battle, and monthly test, to show the growth of each character and the viewers were able to enjoy the drama more.
Dream High is about how students from different backgrounds and situations all enter Kirin High School of Arts to become a top star. There was no drama about teenagers recently and the theme of dream and hope makes it a unique drama. It holds a lot of value for teenagers but also for adults who have forgotten about their dream. The viewer ratings per age group is 12.6% for teenager girls, and 12.4% for 40 year old women. This shows that the drama is being loved by the entire family instead of just the children, or the parents.
The last episode of the series will air on Monday on KBS.
