Dana gives a personal tale of how her friend abandoned a dog

Danaadded her own voice to the debate of puppy mills on the June 7 broadcast ofMBC's '100 Minute Discussion.'

As a self-proclaimed animal lover, Dana had many points to make on the matter, relaying her own opinions on the inhumane attitude toward dogs--and animals in general--through personal experience and stories.

The singer began, "Among the dogs I raise, one of them was abandoned. I didn't rescue the dog from the shelter but rather, I took the dog in from my friend who paid a fortune to adopt it but couldn't handle taking care of it. The dog kept growing larger and my friend was going to hand it over to a dog shelter.

Dana continued, "I had told my friend sternly during the adoption process. That it will be a difficult task to look after the puppy with consideration and responsibility until the end of its days, but my friend was only thinking of the dog during its small and pretty puppy phase. Though knowing that I'm an animal lover, my friend had regarded the puppy as an accessory and a commodity [you use to decorate the house] rather than as a living creature you exchange feelings with. This kind of perception [toward animals] must change."
