The person who picked the songs for various scenes of Dream High and made fans cry and laugh was the writer Park Hye Ryun. Writer Park chose music as the main way of expressing what the characters were feeling at the time. Contemplating with her was producer Lee Eung Bok and music & dance director Park Jin Young. The three of them picked songs that were perfect for the situation.

The first episode featured Hyemi who, due to uncontrollable circumstances, had to audition to enroll in the Kirin Highschool. The song used for the audition of Hyemi and Baek Hee was “Goose’s Dream.” Also, the mix of “Summer Time” and “I don’t Know Anything But Love” played by Bae Yong Joon on the piano was enough to capture the audience.

On the 2nd and 3rd episodes, the two songs that became popular was Pilsook’s audition song, Someday, and the song that Hyemi sang in the bathroom, “Only Hope.” Especially, Only Hope became the number 1 searched keyword right after the broadcast, and got lots of attention from fans because of Suzy’s clear voice.

Another song from episode three was Miss A’s Bad Girl Good Girl. The song was used for Baek Hee’s performance and the song fit her character and foretold what type of character she will become.

On the fourth episode, Sam Dong sang the song “Last Concert” in a battle with Jason. Also, while he was on a short date with Hyemi, the song “Maybe” was used, fitting the situation perfectly.

The main song of episode 5 was Hyemi’s “Winter Child” which she sang for the monthly test. The test was to convey the emotions of the song and Hyemi was able to get a perfect grade since she sang the song for Jin Gook. “Winter Child” became the next hit for Suzy after “Only Hope.”

In episode 6, Sam Dong’s song to his mother, “Song for my Wife” as well as the songs that played while he was imagining about his fake showcase, such as “Paradise” from Boys Over Flowers. Also, during IU’s cute post it proposal to Jason, the BGM was “Crush,” which made the fans become absorbed into the drama even more.

Sam Dong starts to rebel in episode 11. On top of that, he starts to lose his hearing and ends up in a club. He hears the music and is deeply saddened by it. The song that’s playing in the scene was “Limping.”

Episode 12 had songs like “Can’t I Love You” and “My Valentine” for Pilsook/Jason romance and Taecyeon’s performance. Baek Hee sang “New Dreaming” on the stage.

Episode 13 brought what can be regarded as the most popular song of Dream High OST, “Dreaming.” Kim Soo Hyun sang this for his showcase stage, and showed off his vocals.

Episode 14 was where Jin Gook rescues Baek Hee who was getting harassed by the company leader and Jin Gook gets accused of violence. When Baek Hee was going to the police to confess that Jin Gook did this to save her, she asks Hyemi over the phone to sing her a song. The song Hyemi sang was “Goose’s Dream,” which made Baek Hee and Hyemi think back to their auditioning days and this song gave hope to Baek Hee.

Episode 15, the latest episode, featured the main song of Dream High, “Dream High.” This song is for Hyemi, Sam Dong, Jin Gook, Baek Hee, Jason, and Pilsook, who will be in the same group and debuting together.

Dream High OST was released by parts after the episode featured the songs, and each song received so much attention after release. Even now, IU’s Someday is at number 5, Kim Soo Hyun’s Dreaming is at number 8, and “Can’t I Love You” is at number 9.
