Easy DIY Beauty Recipes Cooked Up By Your Fave K-Celebs

Researching about products and swiping it off the shelves, digital or otherwise, may be efficient and satisfying, but there will always be a special place in my heart for do-it-yourself (DIY) concoctions that require nothing more than a quick rolling up of sleeves and a well-stocked pantry. And it seems, I am in good (and very gorgeous!) company. Wondering which of your fave Korean celebrities are hidden kitchen goddesses as well? Read on to find some celeb-approved beauty recipes that are easy to whip up and just as good for your skin as they are tasty!

Bee tightened and brightened

Still as fresh-faced as a teenager, Song Hye Kyo divulged that she enjoys a DIY face pack every so often to help moisturize and brighten her skin. And the recipe is simple; blend a spoonful of powdered milk, honey, and one raw egg white together and apply onto your face. Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing.

Rich in antioxidants, honey helps to simultaneously hydrate and tighten skin. Egg white, too, has natural astringent properties that shrink pores and lift the skin. While these two ingredients alone would work wonders, adding powdered milk takes the recipe up a notch due to the lactic acid component present in milk that gently peels off the dull top layers to unveil healthier and brighter skin.

Milk it up even more

Like attracts like, and we can certainly see why in the Song-Song couple. Just like his wife, Song Joong Ki has maintained his baby-face with the help of a handy and affordable DIY. If you thought his wife’s beauty recipe was fuss-free, the actor’s tip might just bowl you over with its simplicity. Song Joong Ki reportedly washes his face with milk every night in order to attain his milky white complexion.

For those of you who want to try it out, we would recommend soaking a cotton pad in the milk and using that to slowly wipe your face instead of splashing it straight on, which would be a real messy affair.

Take it with a grain of salt

Have you ever returned from a seaside vacation to realize that your skin just looks picture-perfect? Well, you might have the same train of thought as YoonA; the veteran idol exhorts the making of saline solution to combat pesky zits.

Combine a tablespoon of sea salt with a cup of warm water and use cotton buds to apply the saline solution to any zits. If the zit has come to a head, doing this will help kill the bacteria and drain it out, sometimes instantaneously.

This clarifying hack is also one that is fully embraced by beauty queen Go Hyun Jung. In her first ever beauty book “Go Hyun Jung’s Texture” (that sold out two days after launch), the actress recommended using salt water to treat breakouts.

So next time you have a wound (of the nasty pimply nature), don’t hesitate to pour the salt on!

Keep cool and reduce the bloat

Waking up in the morning with a puffy face can be annoying, especially when you have important plans for the day that you want to be in tip-top shape for. But Kim Yoo Jung and BTS’s V have shared an important tip to reduce the swelling fast and moisturize at the same time.

The young actress swears by dousing cotton pads with toner and chilling them in a refrigerator before applying them to the face like a face mask. V, on the other hand, uses his toner-soaked cotton pads as a mask on flights to relieve the dryness caused by cabin air. He goes a step further by layering up on lotions as well to ensure that his skin will stay well-hydrated.

Cute as a cucumber

Dry flaky skin is not a cute look on anybody, and Goo Hara has just the DIY to help hydrate and soothe irritated skin. In an old Twitter post, the idol and actress suggested a cucumber facial for anyone suffering from dry skin. She added on that the cucumber slices can be cut into a variety of shapes and sizes so as to fit the contours of the face.

As 96 percent of the cucumber’s weight comes from water, masking with cucumber slices can be a great way to harness the hydration and antioxidants in the plant to rejuvenate and infuse moisture into your skin.

Have you bean exfoliating?

Sloughing off dead skin to give way to a new and brighter layer has become something of an obsession these days with various types of exfoliators available. Physical, chemical, you want it, they’ve probably got it! If you’re on the hunt for a new way to exfoliate, why not give actress Han Sun Hwa’s recipe a go?

The veteran idol supposedly relies on a natural homemade exfoliator to achieve her soft, glowing skin. She mixes bean powder together with milk and applies it as a mask, which unclogs pores and promotes clear skin.
