Fans furious toward SBS News for mentioning VIXX's rising sun flag controversy from 3 years ago

According to fans, reporters on the August 15 airing ofSBS Newsat 8PM talked aboutVIXX's rising sun flag controversy from approximately 3 years ago.

The topic most likely came up afterTiffany's current controversy came to light, but VIXX Fans, or Starlight, are furious, arguing that there's no need to bring up a controversy that wrapped up 3 years ago.

The controversy took place back in 2013, during one of VIXX's 'VIXX TV' clips uploaded on their official Youtube channel. MembersRaviandNwere shopping in Japan and picked up a few hats with images similar to the rising star flag on them. Soon after the issue arose,Jellyfish Entertainmentissued a statement of apology, admitting the mistake of failing to edit out a scene that may cause controversy.

Fans claimed that thanks to the SBS News report, the issue has not only come to light again, but many people who watched the news without knowing that the event took place 3 years ago now have negative views toward VIXX, who are making a comeback this week with "Fantasy". When fans attempted to call SBS about the issue, the broadcasting station supposedly claimed they didn't know anything.

There's also a debate between netizens on whether the symbol on the hats is actually a rising sun flag, or a VF-111 American fighter squadron flag.

Comments about the resurfacing of VIXX's controversy included,"This has nothing to do with VIXX as people and there's no reason for them to be criticized but the issue is getting bigger, which upsets me","After reading this, I think VIXX really get criticized unfairly... people will probably just think the fans are shielding them","All in all it's best to avoid any similar symbols", and more.

Do you think SBS News reported on VIXX unfairly?
