[Fashion FOCUS] The attitude of fashion to cope with the phenomenon of 'it pocket'

According to the Korea Textile Industry Association, the current domestic children's wear market is 1.98 trillion won. It exceeded 1 trillion won in 2014 from 877.1 billion won in 2012 and recorded 1.30 trillion won in 2016, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth. Last year, 8.4 percent (110.1 billion won) was downgraded, but the growth slowed somewhat, experts say.

According to the online shopping site Gmarket, skirt sales of junior apparel jumped 423% YoY in the past month as of April 8th. In the same period, sales of jackets increased by 324%, dresses by 229%, pants by 131%, and blouses and shirts by 132%. Children's sneakers increased by 39% and sandals and slippers by 26%.

As the size of the children's wear market grows, the outdoor and casual industries are making their way into the kids' line. In addition to launching a new line of kids, the company is also responding to the 'it pocket' phenomenon by expanding items for kids' clothing and in-store stores.

Nepa Kids plans to further strengthen its children's brand by strengthening product assortment and expanding its sole store this year. Nepa Kids, which was launched in the form of a chop-shop, is launching its own brand in March 2015, and sales are growing. It increased from 20.3 billion won in 2016 to 30.5 billion won last year. The store is also growing. Currently, 66 stores are planned to expand to 73 stores this year, including a shop, and a total of 127 stores will be operated.
