Flower Tea Relieves Spring Fatigue

Korea's traditional flower teas have a range of proven health benefits, especially as spring flowers are rich in antioxidant compounds that can soothe the mind.

Rich in polyphenol, magnolia tea is good for controlling blood pressure. Plum tea contains high levels of anthocyanin, which has anti-aging effects and stimulates digestion, while antioxidant pigments are found in brightly colored plants.

To prepare the tea, dry the plum petals and steep them in hot water for a few minutes.

Canola tea, meanwhile, is rich in vitamin C, so it is recommended for those who tire easily or have a weak immune system.

Roast the flowers in a skillet for several minutes before steeping them in water.

Dandelion and forsythia tea contain high levels of vitamin A and are good for skin and have anti-inflammatory effects.

To prepare forsythia tea, washed flowers should be drained first and then roasted at low temperatures for several minutes before roasting the petals at high temperatures. Or the washed flowers can simply be soaked in sugar for 15 days before adding hot water to make the tea.

But avoid flowers collected from the streets as they can contain heavy metals or other contaminants. Instead, buy flowers raised with nutrient-rich water.
