[ASKKPOP] Gaon Chart reveals that EXO, Big Bang, and B2ST are the three leading boy groups in terms of 2014 sales

After having declaredGirls' Generation,2NE1, andA Pinkas thequeens of 2014,Gaon Charthas decided to list the kings by seeing which boy groups have come out on top in terms of 2014 sales.

To assess the data, Gaon Chart has organized three different charts: the first compares boy groups' digital song sales, the second compares album sales, and the third compares overall sales.



Digital Song Sales



According to Gaon's data,Big Bangimpressively takes first place in terms of digital song sales. Although Big Bang had no group activities or releases this past year,Taeyang's solo album'RISE'sales as well as his collaboration withG-Dragon"Good Boy"were more than enough to secure the Big Bang members the title as kings of digital sales.


Second place belongs toB2STwith their highly successful'Time'album. Rookie groupWINNERimpresses in third place after successfully debuting with"Empty"off their'2014 S/S'album.

Album Sales


In terms of physical album sales, theEXOmembers stand at a towering height compared to their competitors with a whopping 1.05 million sales for their 'Overdose'album--including bothEXO-KandEXO-Mversions.


As for their fellow labelmateSuper Junior, thesunbaegroup prove their power over physical album sales once again by coming in second place with 560,000 sales for their'Mamacita'album.INFINITEfollows in third place.

Overall Sales


The above chart was calculated using a point system involving a 50:50 ratio of digital songs to album sales. According to Gaon's calculations, EXO takes first place in terms of overall sales with 86.1 points. As Girls' Generation had won the overall sales chart for girl groups with 75.4 points, Gaon declares EXO as number one among all K-Pop groups--for both boys and girls.


Second place goes to Big Bang, showing the immense strength of the members' solo and collaboration activities; third place goes to B2ST.
