IU’s agency has announced its stance on malicious comments and online defamation.


FAVE Entertainment uploaded an official statement to IU’s fan cafe on April 20.

The statement reads as follows:

“Hello. This is FAVE Entertainment.

“While we did not officially announce warnings following our investigations of social media accounts and comments spreading slander, defamation, and malicious information regarding our agency artist IU, we are continuously monitoring activity on social media and will take legal action if necessary. For accounts and comments that are severe or continue to spread slander, we will follow up with strong legal actions in accordance to our policy.

“That being said, we’d like to inform you that the information sent by fans is very helpful for our investigation, and we are checking over all the emails and related materials.

“We ask that you continue to send in information regarding accounts and comments that spread false information, rumors, and defamatory remarks relating to the artist.

“FAVE Entertainment will continue to do our best to protect our artists on a legal basis. Thank you.”

IU’s agency has been investigating and following up on malicious comments and rumors online with legal action since late 2016.
