[ASKKPOP] [K-Drama Feature] - Best 13 Acting-dols of 2014 So Far

Whether you love it or think it's a sign of the apocalypse, idols have been acting in K-Dramas for a long time, and that shows no sign of letting up. That said, here are the top thirteen idols who turned in some skillful performances this year.

TAECYEON (2PM) - 'Very Good Days'

Taecyeon made his acting debut in 2010's 'Cinderella's Stepsister.'  He's currently starring as the lead in 'Very Good Days.' My understanding is that in his debut he flexed his physical muscles more than his acting muscles, but since then he's made a definite turnaround.

LEE JOON (MBLAQ) - 'Gabdongi'

In this year's 'Gabdongi,' Lee Joon creeped fans out with his chilling and masterful portrayal of the serial killer, Ryu Tae Oh. All I can say is, I hope it's an act (har har).

JAEJOONG (JYJ) - 'Triangle'

This young man was active in TV and film for a decade before he starred inMBC's 'Triangle.' Jaejoong has brought an angst-filled realism to his character in this show. 'Triangle' is still on-air as of this article. I don't think I'd want to be part of a Triangle. Those pointy ends tend to hurt.

SIWAN (Z:EA) - 'Triangle'

Spanning a four year acting career, Siwan was in several series (mostly cameos) until emerging as a lead character in 'Triangle,' in which he portrays an adoptedchaebolwho is the arch rival toJaejoong's character, Young Dal. I don't know what this says about him personally, but he plays the unhinged character to the hilt. Take it as a cautionary tale: don't let it go to your head, Siwan!

SEUNGRI (BIG BANG) - 'Angel Eyes'

Making his acting debut in 2009 in the film 'Why Did You Come to My House?', Seugri starred as rookie fireman Teddy Seo in this year's 'Angel Eyes.' While some fans complained about his acting, I thought he made aBig Bangin this series.

BORA (SISTAR) - 'Doctor Stranger'

SISTAR'S rapper Bora only recently started her acting career and won a supporting role on'Doctor Stranger.'Reactions to her acting have been generally positive. I'm guessing she won't have to resuscitate her popularity anytime soon.

YOONA (Girls' Generation) - 'Prime Minister and I'

Most recently YoonA starred alongsideLee Bum Sooin romantic comedy, 'Prime Minister and I,' with high critical acclaim. I'm guessing with the right material, she could be one of the finest actresses of this generation.

EUNJI (A PINK) - 'Trot Lovers'

Eunji, no stranger to K-Drama,  is currently in a series called 'Trot Lovers' for which she's also receiving rave reviews. Looks like her career is not off to a trot, but rather a gallop.

WOOHYUN & SUNGYEOL (INFINITE), CHOA (CRAYON POP) - 'High School - Love On'

We've got 3 idol stars in this series about an angel who saves a high school student and becomes mortal as a result. While the acting is divine, the male characters themselves are less than angelic in the series. Sungyeol and Woohyun convincingly portray bitter students whose home lives are less than ideal, and ChoA's desperation and angst seem quite real.

JINWOON (2AM), SUNHWA (SECRET) - 'Marriage, Not Dating'

Taking a page from the 'Book of Very Bad Ideas,' a successful plastic surgeon pretends to date his buddy's ex to prevent more blind dates. Sunhwa does a stunning turn as the sexy ex-fiancee of the leading man, and Jinwoon plays the barista with a mysterious smile, almost as if he's amused at the attempts by the female lead to flirt with him. He does a good job so far.

I haven't yet figured out how some fans put together the equation idol + drama = a bad thing. One of the first dramas I watched, 'Dream High,' was incredible; the performances put in bySuzyandTaecyeonwere convincing. Having an idol in a K-Drama doesn't automatically make it good or bad, and if this list doesn't convince you, I don't know what will.

Who do you guys think were the top idols in shows this year?
