Kim Jong-kook lands role

Singer and TV celebrityKim Jong-kookhas landed his first drama role, according to Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.

The 39-year-old singer, who is currently appearing in the popular reality TV show "Running Man", has been cast in the role as a producer in the upcoming drama series"Producers", which centers on people making entertainment shows at a broadcasting station.

In the drama series, Kim will act out the role of a producer on a variety show.

"After finishing some of his scheduled activities in China, he will join the first script reading next week", a person who is close to Kim told Ilgan Sports.

Although Kim debuted as a singer in 1995, he has been away from the music scene and has been appearing in"Running Man"instead.

Since Kim is close in real life to actorCha Tae-hyeon, who will appear in the drama series as another producer, industry insiders say their friendship will add more realism to the program.

Other than Kim and Cha, actorKim Soo-hyeon-I, actressKong Hyo-jinand soloistIUwill appear in the drama.
