Korean college student who pays for homeless Filipino grandmother's dinner goes viral

good samaritan act by a Korean college student buying food for a homeless lady is going viral in the Philippines.


The story was first posted by a bystander who observed the event and felt compelled to share it in on Facebook.Hillary Aguadatold the story of how she and her roommate stopped byKentucky Fried Chickenfor dinner during a cold and rainy evening inBaguio City, Philippines.That's when she spotted a seemingly homeless elderly woman who had on "ragged clothes"and "worn out slippers." As the older lady placed her order, "maybe in hopes that the cashier would be kind enough to just give her the food for free," ayoung Korean manwho was also observing on the side stepped in and handed money to the cashier, paying for the meal himself.He then sat down with the old lady and proceeded to have dinner with her.


Hillary Aguada wrotehow she was "really moved by the kindness of [the] man" and included the picture that she snapped of the Korean college student with the lady on her Facebook post.




The story went viral in the Philippines, getting covered by many news and media outlets. In this particular interview of the Korean college student studying at theUniversity of Baguio, he said,"The moment I saw the elderly homeless lady, I thought of my own paternal grandmother."


The event and the good samaritan himself have been receiving wide praise from the media and general crowd, also mentioning the fact that this kind act was done,"transcending skin color."
