Man sentenced to 18 years in jail for stabbing ex-girlfriend to death and stuffing her dog inside a washing machine

On November 21, theDaegu District Courtsentenced a 23-year-oldMr. Ahnto 18 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend'A'and her pet dog.

It is believed that back on April 19, Mr. Ahn murdered 'A' in their shared home because of their recent breakup and because he suspected that she already had a new boyfriend. Mr. Ahn attacked 'A' while she was sleeping and stabbed her nine times. After 'A' died due to blood loss, Mr. Ahn then attacked 'A's dog. Allegedly, he choked, stabbed, and hit the dog on the head multiple times with kitchen utensils. The dog passed away after Mr. Ahn put it in a washing machine.

Mr. Ahn and 'A' started living together back in October 2013. Reportedly, Mr. Ahn was the head of a prostitution business, while 'A' worked as one of its hostesses. The two began to have problems when 'A' started coming home late and Mr. Ahn harbored suspicions that she was meeting other men. Mr. Ahn threatened 'A' that he was going to tell her family about her work in the prostitution business and that he was going to kill her dog. Shortly thereafter, 'A' broke up with Mr. Ahn. On the day of her murder, Mr. Ahn looked through 'A'sKakaoTalkmessages and assumed that she had a new boyfriend. In his anger, he decided to brutally murder her and her pet.

TheDepartment of Justicehas commented, "As we pieced together that the victim was unable to resist in her sleeping state, the attacker stabbed her until she died, and that she must have been afraid and in pain, we believe there's a need to punishing [the accused] severely."

Netizens were shocked by this disturbing story, with comments saying, "Crazy bastard…. What did the dog do…. Ah seriously, you go die you horrible bastard…. At this rate I should be careful when dating people too…. It seems that you can't trust people," and, "Just 18 years? He kills someone at the age of 23 and 18 years later he will be 41-years-old…. I shiver at the thought that at 41, he will be free and act as if nothing happened, living among other people."
