Online Shopping Goes from Strength to Strength

Online purchases exceeded W6 trillion for the first time ever in November last year (US$1=W1,209).

Statistics Korea on Monday said total online purchases reached W6.09 trillion in November, surpassing the previous month's record of W5.65 trillion.

Online purchases are growing 10-20 percent every year. In November 2011, they stood at only W2.63 trillion.

Travel and other tickets accounted for 14.9 percent, clothes for 14.6 percent, home appliances, electronics and communication devices for 11 percent, and household and automotive products for 10.4 percent.
