[ASKKPOP] [POLL] Solo vs. Group: Male Idol Promotions

It's not uncommon these days for members of idol groups to go down solo paths once in a while as the rest of the group takes a break or each member does his own thing.  While a lot of them don't deviate much from the normal group image, some show a new charm or side to themselves for their solo careers--a concept they personally get to shape that shows off their individuality.

Here's a poll to choose which you prefer--solo or group promotions for certain boy group members!  Of course picking solo doesn't mean his promotions as part of a group are bad, nor does picking the group mean the solo was a failure; it can depend entirely on your preference for music genres or images.  Vote down below for the five female idols.

T.O.P vs. Big Bang's T.O.P

T.O.P went full bingu mode for his "Doom Dada" MV, showing fans his individual, artistic side through an interesting black-and-white MV full of interesting circle lenses, fake mustaches, and a creepy baby while he raps with crazy good flow.  In Big Bang, he doesn't grab the center spotlight quite as easily, distributing the attention with his fellow members while going for a more swag, mainstream hip-hop style.

Jonghyun vs SHINee's Jonghyun

Jonghyun finally got to unleash all his creativity through songwriting and lyric writing for his solo debut, opting out of the crazy dance moves SHINee is known for so he could focus on his singing and expression of emotions.  In SHINee, he is bursting with charisma as an idol, but as a solo act, he truly shines as an artist.

Sunggyu vs. INFINITE's Sunggyu

Sunggyu is known for his interesting voice and singing methods, which he got to really showcase as a solo act.  Going for a slight rock-like edge, Sunggyu impressed with his voice.  In INFINITE, he's a dancing machine with sharp, clean-cut moves as he wails away to catchy beats and high, more pop-like melodies.

Kyuhyun vs. Super Junior's Kyuhyun

Kyuhyun became a beautiful ballad singer as a solo act, sounding just likeSung Si Kyungwith his gentle, soothing voice.  As part of Super Junior, he gets to fool around more and show off his manly charisma.  It's a soft, romantic Kyuhyun vs. a fun, energetic Kyuhyun.

Yonghwa vs. CNBLUE's Yonghwa

Yonghwa likewise got to show a more artistic, innovative style.  Solo acts are really a time for the individual to shine in a musical genre he or she truly loves.  Yonghwa deviates from the classic CNBLUE band sound for a more funky beat with interesting featured artists likeYang Dong Geun, letting him have fun in a different way.
