Ryu Joon Yeol talks about his first time acting with a dialect for 'The King'

On January 12, a press conference was held in Seoul for the upcoming movie, 'The King.' Actor Ryu Joon Yeol talked about perfecting his dialect for the role.  Speaking in a Jeolla dialect in the film, the actor stated,"There was a person who spoke in Jeolla dialect at home so it was very helpful."He honestly mentioned,"It wasn't the dialect that was hard. What burdened me was the fact that I had to act as a gangster and a detective around three senior actors."

Depicted as a rigid character in the film, he continued,"I didn't want to just portray a typical gangster who just messes around, so I focused more on presenting his vulnerable side as well.  I did my best to show both perspectives from a gangster and detective."

'The King' tells the story of Tae Soo (Jo In Sung) who comes from a poor background and decides to become a prosecutor after learning that power is the most important thing in life. By chance, he meets Han Kang Shik (Jung Woo Sung).

Ryu Joon Yeol takes on the role of Doo-Ill, Gangnam's skilled gangster as well as a long time childhood friend of Tae Soo.  'The King' is an action film set to release in theaters on January 18.
