Seoul Style: Getting ready for a beach day in Haeundae

It's summer time, and you know what that means--time to hit the beach! And in Korea, the go-to beach in the country has to be in the district of Haeundae, which is around 2 and a half hours south of Seoul (if you take KTX).

A paradise of sea and clouds, Haeundae is the most popular district in the city of Busan, located in the southeastern region of South Korea. It is one of the eight scenic wonders in Korea, containing the largest beach.

The Haeundae Beach is particularly known for its shallow waters. Even when the tide changes, it never comes too high, making the broad land of sand an optimal place for swimming and enjoying the water. Furthermore, the activities you can do in Haeundae are not just limited to swimming, as the location offers a variety of events ranging from ocean parades, beach concerts, street games, live art performances, to ocean sports.

Sign me up for the next plane ride over please, I would like a beach day in Haeundae! But before that--how should we prepare? Usually beach fashion can be a bit of a struggle, especially with all that sand and water getting in the way of the pretty. But South Korea fashion has some ideas to doll up so that your look can match the equally awesome Haeundae weather.

The bikini

Beach fashion means it's time to suit up! Swimsuits, that is. This summer, Korea is making some adjustments to their bikini fashion. Floral patterns coupled with solid colors are in. Add that dash of spring to your beachwear as you frolic along the shorelines. BloggerWonchureenprovides some examples of how to work this look below.

Black can almost go with anything--pair it with something floral, and you make something chic.

Floral can also go with other patterns. The neon green and black stripes here add a wild twist to the yellow-flowered top.

And of course, you can never go wrong with matching colors! The pink in the floral top and the solid color bottom go well together for a very frilly, girly look!

For those who aren't comfortable with showing too much skin, more conservative styles are creeping their way in this season. If you opt to cover up, just make sure that your look has an interesting shape or pattern thrown into the mix. Less skin, more glam!

You don't necessarily need to show the tummy if it doesn't want to show! This geometric, trippy top keeps things fun under the sun.

Who cares if you're covering more skin--if you pair up something like this, you'll still be sexy for the summer! Try a bikini top that looks like a cropped bustier to show that you are indeed a hottie with a body.

The accessory

For a technology-obsessed generation, a waterproof phone case or bag is a must! Check out these aqua packs sold by Korean brandSheBeach

Not that you were planning to bring these into the water with you--but it's good to keep these devices safe from both water and sand. These aqua packs will hold your stuff all snug, but will also look stylish with their bright colors against your hot bikini look.

The makeup

Protecting your technology babies from the beach is one thing, but makeup is much more of a tough challenge. The key point about summer makeup is to make sure it's not easy to remove or smudge in the hot and humid weather. This is difficult to find, however, as even waterproof makeup can erase after being exposed to water for a long period of time.

The best option is to wear a light layer. Refrain from the creative face-painting unless you know you're going to stay dry for the most part. In that case--we recommend that you make your face a palette of glitter and cool, bright colors for a good combination of that hot yet refreshing beach look.

Korean bloggerpavane (pictured above) demonstrates a beach-themed eye makeup she came up with by using orange, glittery eye shadow at the inner corners of her eyelid, blue, glittery eye shadow for the center, and a darker blue eyeliner to finish off with a wing at the end.

And ta da, it's a sand-meets-the-ocean-waves look!

For those who are into nail art, pavene finishes off her ensemble with bright, neon-colored nails. Notice how she doesn't use just one color but alternates between three. The finished product looks like candy on her nails--sweet for the summer!
