Singer-songwriter MNEK talks about working with BTS
English singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy-nominated artist MNEK recently sat down with TV Report in Seoul to discuss his music, fans in Korea, and working with BTS.
In the United States and Britain already has a reputation as a genius. These days, word of mouth in Korea is selfish. MNEK is a singer-songwriter and producer dealing with pop, R & B, house, and UK garage. At the age of sixteen, he was already recognized for his outstanding composing skills and signed a contract with EMI publishing.
Since 2014, he has also been active as a singer. We released the debut single 'Every Little Word' and announced the sensation. In September, we announced the first album 'Language' and captured the criticism and the public mind.

He said:" I honestly did not know. I think maybe he would have met me through the BTS. As you know, their 'Love Yourself' album contains songs that I composed. In fact, I received a lot of positive messages from their fans through SNS. If my presence was known in Korea, it would be because of them. "
Through collaboration with American producers, collaboration has become a success. It is also when I break up with my girlfriend and get tough. I wrote two songs called 'Phone' and 'Mouth'. 'Mouth' became 'Paradise' of the BTS. Originally, 'Mouth' is about the separation from lovers and the grief of the show. When I met BTS, the lyrics changed.
There must have been an echo that these melodies gave to them. I also think that it is interesting point of music. Even if the language is different, they are connected. I have a part that I can sympathize with.
I listened to 'Paradise', and it was great. Of course I could not understand because it was Korean. Hahaha. I've come back to the music that resonates with me. The BTS has a solid fan base. It's because they are a good group that delivers good messages.
It's been a long time since I've been creating my favorite music and working with people all along. It was a great help for my own development. I feel like I grew up with various projects and collaborations.
If not, I would have lived a normal life in the morning and at work in the evening. I had a career experience during my school days. I worked at a stationery store. It is all a little experience of everyday life, but now life is more exciting and joyful to me. My parents are very helpful. I did not work on music, but I loved the music very much. He always let me touch the music, so I was influenced. I have made a song since I was a kid. I would go to SNS. I sent a song to all the artists I liked. Hahaha. One day, a reply came to an artist. 'I like your music. I want to introduce you to my public syst. " I was a child who did not even know that title. I said it was good, and things went on suddenly. I have a legal representative.
These processes were done very quickly and naturally. Thankfully, you have not suffered the ups and downs. However, not everyone who has been attracted to me as such has remained in the music world. I've been playing music hard and steadily. I was sensitive to trend changes. It was possible because of the passion and affection for music. My biggest strength is 'Love for Music'. 
A long time, I finished the ball slowly. I have so much affection, impression and thought. I wanted to make music like "The Velvet Rope" by Janet Jackson. I have melted in the music industry that I have been in since I was a child, and experience of love. I also have an anxiety about sexual identity. I wanted to be the voice of people who have a similar problem.
Well, if you're dealing with sensitive issues, you're going to have to express it mildly. During my song, I have a girlfriend. 'Your girlfriend knows my existence'. I am a straight personality. The lyrics are very direct. My life as a homosexual is still alive. It's the first step to a recording artist. I hope it will be the beginning of more work.
