[Single Review] 2NE1 'Do You Love Me?'

A few weeks ago,2NE1brought back the fun with "Falling in Love". As much as I didn't really care for that song, it was at least nice to see the girls having fun with a Korean single for the first time since 2011's "I Am the Best". "Do You Love Me?" brings the fun back again, and is thankfully a step in the right direction.

2NE1's most recent songs have all felt like they were /trying/ to be something, where you could feel a heavy hand pointing at "Ugly"'s rock concept or "I Love You"'s sexy concept, "Do You Love Me?" brings back the kind of unpretentious, sassy fun of the "Fire" days.  It doesn't need any kind of strong concept and it doesn't need to try too hard- it's just 2NE1 having fun and doing their thing.

"Do You Love Me?" does suffer from the same problem that we saw with "Falling in Love" in that it was meant to be released in 2012. Since it's already a throwback to an earlier 2NE1 era this leaves it sounding a bit dated. Beyond that, while "Do You Love Me?" isn't bad at all, but it's not one of their more memorable songs.

At the end of the day, it's a fun and enjoyable song. I probably won't be rocking out to it years from now (or even weeks from now) the way I still am with some of their older stuff. Hopefully, they've got something a little more memorable up their sleeves for their September and October release(s), something that I willlove, but this'll do for now.
