Snapchat gets rid of rising sun flag geofilter following the controversy surrounding Tiffany?

Tiffany'susage of the Japanese flag emoticon and Snapchat's rising sun geofilteron Korea's independence day is still causing a much-heated debate and buzz, especially among Korean netizens and in the media.

One netizen in particular has even sent an email to the team at Snapchat, requesting the removal of the rising sun geofilter. The netizen wrote on an online forum,"Yesterday, I saw the problematic Snapchat filter used by Tiffany and got so angry that I directly emailed Snapchat's support team seeking rectification. I got a response from them not too long ago. Snapchat is aware of the situation and they informed me that they removed the rising sun filter which has caused such an issue. Now you won't be able to use it even if you want to!"

The OP also shared a screen capture of the correspondence with Snapchat in the post, showing that the Snapchat support team has taken note of the recent controversy and has since removed the filter.

Do you think the controversy warranted a response from Snapchat and the removal of the rising sun filter in its entirety?
