[ASKKPOP] Stepsister uploads a bitter blog post saying Han Groo was dishonest about her family background
Wednesday night, a blog post titled 'Actress Han Groo is not my biological sister' was uploaded on a web portal.
The blog poster, who introduced herself as Han Groo's stepsister, wrote, "I was dumbfounded when I read articles on Han Groo and her director father, fashion model mother, and sister and brother who are graduates of Ehwa University and Seoul University. Han Groo has no biological relation to the sister and brother who went to prestigious universities. My father was absent from my life since I was ten, and my mother raised the three of us on her own. Marrying at the young age of twenty, she abandoned her dreams of acting and modeling, sacrificing her all for her children, so we studied as hard as we could.
"My parents eventually divorced, not too long after I entered college, and before we could even accept what happened, we greeted a new mother and a new sister who was just about to go into grade school," revealing that the new sister was Han Groo.
The stepsister further wrote that due to the permanent emotional scars she received during her family's hardships, she moved out with her younger brother just a couple months after Han Groo and her mother had moved in.
"I thought after all these years and starting a family, everything would just die down but we became the trophy of some kid who doesn't have an inkling of the results we accomplished by working hard and relying on one another, making us the gossip of the town. After Han Groo entered grade school, I have never met or kept in touch with her, so I asked the agency to edit the articles but all I got were replies saying sorry."
In response to the stepsister's blog post, Han Groo's agency,Climix, told 'Sports Chosun' October 8, "The blog post that was uploaded online last night is true. Han Groo is the daughter of a remarried family. During Han Groo's debut period, her familial relations kept coming up, which left a scar on her family members. We have no intention to use Han Groo's step-siblings who are graduates of prestigious universities. They've lived together in the past and because they were regarded as a family in the family registry, Han Groo thought it'd be problematic if she hid her family. She is incredibly sorry because she didn't think she would be hurting anyone.The step-siblings are Han Groo's stepfather's children.In the entertainment world, it is well-known that Han Groo is a daughter of remarried family."
On the stepsister's request to take down and edit all the articles, the agency stated, "We did receive the request but there is no way to remove articles. [Han Groo's] very sorry and embarrassed that news of her family surfaced before her marriage."
Han Groo herself gave an interview withOSENon October 8, officially apologizing to her adopted family. She said, "First, I want to sincerely apologize for hurting my sister and brother in any way. When I was young, my parents divorced and following my mother, I grew up in my stepfather's household ever sine elementary school and briefly lived with my stepsister and stepbrother for one, two years. Afterwards, I didn't see them for a long time and, after debuting, I agonized over the questions about my family. If I said that I had no brothers or sisters, I thought they may feel bad and, because they were my new family, I revealed that I had two sisters and one brother."
"But ultimately, through the interview, it's true that I got stuck with the 'Um-chin-ddal' (ideal daughter) label. If my brother and sister felt hurt because of that article, I'm really sorry. But we were a family once and I have continued to live without forgetting them. I may not be able to see your face, my new sister whom I always think of and my brother who may have been hurt due to my interview, I hope that we can meet with smiles on our faces one of these days. I'm really sorry once again."
