Steven Yeun was awarded Best Supporting Actor from the National Society of Film Critics for his performance in the Lee Chang Dong-directed film “Burning.”

Burning, who was the first Korean filmmaker to become a pre-candidate for the Academy Foreign Language Film Awards

According to the LA Times, Korean actor Stephen Yan (35), starring Lee Chang-dong in Burning, won Best Supporting Actor of the National Society of Film Critics.

Stephen Yan is an unidentified man who appeared in an episode surrounding his childhood friend, Harumi (a former child) and a childhood friend of a younger brother, Albany, at Burning, based on a short novel by Haruki Murakami of Japan, It was hot in reverse. 

'Burning' was invited to the Cannes International Film Festival competition in May last year and was well received and won the Best Foreign Language Film Award by the LA Film Critics Association and the Toronto Film Critics Association. 

He is also a candidate for the 2019 Critics Choice Awards Foreign Language Film Award, selected by the American Broadcasting Film Critics Association (BFCA). 

The final candidate for the Academy Award will be announced on February 22 and the 2019 Academy Awards will be held on February 24. 

The American Critics Association selected The Rider, a documentary-based documentary about the cowboys of the South Dakota Indian Reservation, as Best Picture.
