Tak divorces his wife after 13 years

EntertainerTak Jae-hoon, former member of the singing duo Country Koko, has filed for divorce from his wife of 13 years, according to local media reports yesterday.

The 46-year-old Tak wed his wife in 2001 after dating for about a year and began filing for divorce in June, local media said.

One of the reports said that Tak thought everything would work out but that things didn't happen as planned. It also said that he was worried his son and daughter might have a difficult time accepting the breakup.

It is rumored that a recent lawsuit accusing Tak of illegal gambling ignited the dispute between the couple. Tak was charged with spending 290 million won ($281,880) from February 2008 to April 2011 on online gambling.

In December, Tak was ordered to serve a six-month jail sentence suspended with a one-year probation. He has dropped out of all the entertainment shows he was involved with after the sentence.

Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily, contacted the lawyers representing Tak's case, but legal representatives refused to comment on whether the divorce has anything to do with the celebrity's illegal gambling.
