[ASKKPOP] Yang Hyun Suk talks about future Lee Hi promotions and CL's upcoming debut in America

Yang Hyun Sukmet up withIlgan Sportsat the location of the wrap-up party forBig Bang's World Tour on the night of April 26.  Here, he talked about his artists and their future plans, as well as the difficulties of pushing back albums, hearing criticism from fans, and more.

In relation to not recruiting 'K-Pop Star'sJung Seung Hwan, Yang Hyun Suk explained,"I really liked Jung Seung Hwan.  However, to tell the truth,Lee Jin Ahand Jung Seung Hwan did not match the color of YG.  I thought they had to wear clothes that fit them well."

When asked howLee Hiwas getting along, then, he said,"As you saw on 'K-Pop Star' not too long ago, she's alive.  Haha.  I really adore her.  She's become mature now that she's 20 years old, so when making music, I want to try something a bit different. She was put withKatie Kimon the stage of 'K-Pop Star,' and the two had similar colors, so they actually did not match very well; hence, I put aside my thoughts on turning them into a duo.  I think solo matches both of them well."

Then he was asked more specifically about when Lee Hi's new song might come out."I ate barbecue with Lee Hi a few days ago,"he replied."At the time, I promised her, 'These days, it's been hectic for me because of Big Bang, but from now on, I will do my best with your music.'  She was happy.  There's already a lot of music prepared.  When looking at Lee Hi's music, I think fall is the perfect time for her.  Same withAkdong Musician."Looks like fans will have to wait until autumn to hear from either artists!

When asked about Katie Kim's debut track, he said,"I am thinking to work hard in order to release her music as soon as possible."

In response to,"There are a lot of people curious aboutCL's advancement into America. I've also heard it was going well,"Yang Hyun Suk said,"It's not [necessarily] going well, butPsy's American manager,Scooter Braun, is attached to her and is diligently helping out.  It looks like the possibility is big once proper promotions are under way.  The way Americans view Koreans and Koreans view Koreans is completely different.  Especially for women.  Would pop artistNicki Minajhave done well in Korea?  There has never been a time that an Asian woman did well in America up to now.  Especially a rapper.

"However, as a new paradigm is being created in America, if you look at a lot of the singers doing well recently, a lot of them are from overseas.  Scooter Braun is quick when it comes to these things, so he quickly looked into Asia.  He saw that CL raps in Asia, dresses well, etc.  Honestly, if you look only at appearance, the girl group members of our nation are prettier.  But the criteria is different for American people.  They like cool women.  CL might or might not do well in America, but there is potential, so we're trying to do our best."
