[ASKKPOP] Yang Hyun Suk talks future plans for iKON, WINNER, Psy and possibility of new girl group debut soon

Papa YG, who usually keeps hushed on the promotions of his label's artists, delved a bit into the upcoming activities ofiKON,WINNER,Psy, and also mentioned the possibility of a new YG girl group debuting next year!

Yang Hyun Sukmet with the press after iKON's debut concert this past October 3 to discuss talk about the group's upcoming schedules in Japan. He said, "They will concurrently promote within and without Korea. A week from now, they have six fan meetings scheduled in Japan, but it seems we will have to add more locations. On China social media serviceWeibo, iKON was hashtagged a total of 400 million times, which is unbelievable. In the past, you could only promote physically, but now, thanks to the advent of online services, as long as the content is good, news spreads by itself which makes things easier."

When the interviewer mentioned that there talks of how fans seem to favor iKON over WINNER, Yang Hyun Suk replied, "If iKON is promoting, then they favor iKON; if WINNER is promoting, they prefer WINNER. Before, iKON fans were upset but since the focus is on iKON now, it seems WINNER fans are upset," and reassured, "WINNER is planning promotions to do better on their second album than their first album."

The YG founder also commented on what Psy has been up to lately, stating, "Psy's promotions are long overdue. What's important is that Psy's album release isn't determined by YG but he himself has to say that he's done [with his album]. He knows he's nearing the end so he's trying to come back within the year. He feels incredibly burdened by "Gangnam Style"s success, but I think it's okay for him to not outdo ["Gangnam Style"] and not promote in the US. He's a good friend of mine on stage so I hope he continues doing music with a peace of mind," supporting the rapper in all his endeavors.

Yang Hyun Suk raised more curiosity with talks ofCL's debut which is set to occur within the year and the possible next-year debut of a new girl group that YG has been preparing for quite some time. Sounds like YG is in for a busy year ahead!
