[ASKKPOP] 'You Who Came From The Stars' to file claim for damages against comic book writer with plagiarism accusations

Just last week, the comic book writerKang Kyung Okexpressed herdesire to pursue legal actionagainst the drama 'You Who Came From The Stars' for allegedly plagiarizing her 2007 comic book 'Sul Hee'. Some of her allegations included striking similarities such as the alien and UFO concept, passage of 400 years, fated love with someone from a past life, and more.

To further update on this ongoing controversy,HB Entertainment, which is head of production for theSBSdrama, said on February 5 that they were planning on filing a legal claim against the comic book writer for damages through the law firmHanshin.  On this day, HB Entertainment sent relevant evidentiary contents to the 'Sul Hee' party.  Up until now, writer Kang has not made any moves due to a problem with public relations.  It has been brought up that 'Sul Hee' may be using 'You Who Came From The Stars' for publicity; this point, in turn, has made the arguments for copyright infringement rather murky.  If 'Sul Hee' sees a financial gain from this battle with the drama and the situation appears to be a means for gaining publicity, this would take some strength away from writer Kang's appeal to the court.

The drama's side revealed their intentions to explore this possibility of exploiting the drama for its popularity.  HB Entertainment has in their possession captures from a Mister Blue's web page suggesting that the other party may have been using the copyright in relation to the drama as well as the main actors' names for publicity for a long time.  In addition, 'Sul Hee' had become the top profiting comic book on various portal and comic book sites since this controversy blew up.

What do you think about this whole situation?
