askkpop: Best Debuts of 2012

Get a glimpse of what we're talking about and listening to at the6Theoryoffice in this fun feature! We'll be offeringallkpopreaders a personal selection of our favorites from the K-Pop scene.

EXO-K's "MAMA" & "History": Although the boys stumbled over their words during their interview, they proved that they were made for the industry when their nervous and rigid facial expressions did a 180 once they hit the stage. The boys of EXO-K gave a very charismatic performance for rookies and hit every move.

B.A.P's "Burn It Up" & "Warrior": Mind you that these boys are singing live while dancing their hearts out, and they perfected the intense stomp dance break on their first stage ever. Besides minor mistakes due to nervousness, B.A.P has already surpassed many groups with their undeniable talent and alluring charisma even on their debut stage. Despite being uniform in platinum blonde, each member has so much presence that they might need a bigger stage to contain it.

Hello Venus' "Venus": Hello Venus had a very appealing and exciting debut stage with a cutesy, lovable atmosphere essential for K-pop female idol groups. What's most appealing are their adorable outfits that covered up just the right amount, making me curious for more. Someone to watch out for during this performance isLime, the spunky girl with mint hair, who handles anIU-esque 3-octave scale.

JJ Project's "Bounce": Even with the excessive headbanging and running in their choreography,JrandJBwere "shakin-it" for the fans with their unlimited stamina throughout the entire performance. One word for their debut performance: fun. Although their live vocals were weak overall, these two youngsters definitely brightened up the stage and exuded the perfect amount of energy.

NU'EST's "I'm Sorry" & "Face": NU'EST had one of the most stable debut stages in 2012. The group set themselves apart by using a chair in the beginning of their dance routine and including minor tutting moves during the dance break, all in their first performance. Although they seemed rushed at certain moments (whenBaekhois "hitting" the members during his solo), their vocals were strong and on pitch, boosting the quality of their performance.

CROSS GENE's "La-Di Da-Di": CROSS GENE showcased decent vocals, but they really shined with the passion they put into performing their really complicated, technical choreography.

GLAM's "Party(XXO)": GLAM's debut was a way for them to show off the members' stamina. These girls are basically everywhere, but in a good way. They did their sporty debut song justice.

TaeTiSeo's "Love Sick" & "Twinkle": For TaeTiSeo's debut, there were more disappointments than there were moments of being dazed by their undeniable beauty. This particular version of "Love Sick" was unstable compared to their other live performances (example here). Although I expected more coming from the members of a top female idol group likeGirls' Generation, their debut as a sub-unit was a very successful move.
