askkpop's Top 50 K-Pop MVs of 2014: 50-31

50.Taemin"Danger"
Label: SM Entertainment
Released: August 15, 2014

There is not much back story to this, but the fact that it is heavily influenced by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, makes it awesome. The choreography is definitely on-point as it includes a good balance of both MJ's style and modern dance techniques (such as tutting). However, despite the flashy aesthetics of the MV, it doesn't mount up to the high expectations that people had for both SM and Taemin. Nonetheless, the MV highlighted the most important part of the performance and that in itself should be merited.

49.ZE:A"Breathe"
Label: Star Empire
Released: June 5, 2014

ZE:A's "Breathe" boasts some beautiful images complete with red paper airplanes, white spherical lights, and a clean color scheme of blue and white set against the backdrop of the glittering galaxy. The MV looks like a lovely dream, and it matches the ethereal sound of the song itself. What unfortunately detracts and distracts from an otherwise pretty MV is the confusing storyline and the jarring images of earth that look like it should be a part of another MV.

48.TaeTiSeo"Holler"
Label: SM Entertainment
Released: September 16, 2014

TaeTiSeo's "Holler" is a busy MV--so busy that it's hard to pinpoint its actual theme. Yet just the fact that the girls look absolutely flawless in it, in every outfit, and in every scene... that alone brings up the quality of the video that much more. In fact, the lovely ladies' visuals as well as the aesthetics of their MV site itself made up for the lack of creativity and otherwise crowded MV.

47.Psy"Hangover"
Label: YG Entertainment
Release: June 8, 2014

Although "Hangover" is not one of Psy's best releases, the MV has a level of craziness, spontaneity, and fun to it that make it entertaining to watch. The fact that Psy uses this MV to actually introduce Korean drinking culture to the world is a plus.

46.4Minute"Whatcha Doin' Today"
Label: Cube Entertainment
Release: March 16, 2014

4minute's "Whatcha Doing Today" is definitely a fun trip as we watch the girls go from room to room, showing us more and more of their bizarre party world. There's a lot to ogle from the pink-haired maids who flaunt their behinds and the interesting makeup (is that glitter inGayoon's eyebrows?) to the crazy angles that make you do a double take (Jiyoon, I'm looking at you). However, overloading your viewers with details is not always a good thing and unfortunately, the messy fashion really distracts in this MV.

45.Ailee"Don't Touch Me"
Label: YMC Entertainment
Release: September 24, 2014

Ailee is a queen in "Don't Touch Me." Fierce and confident, Ailee proves in this MV that she can rock any kind of look. Unfortunately, that's actually all she does--wear different outfits and flip her awesome hair. As much as we love her visuals, it's not enough to keep us hovering over the replay button.

44.AOA"Short Hair"
Label: FNC Entertainment
Release: June 18, 2014

AOA's "Short Hair" features a palette of bright colors perfect for the summer of 2014. The girls take these colors for a spin with their cute assortment of uniforms. Their visuals are great, the outfit concept is great, the song is great. There's even a story if you watch carefully enough as the AOA girls are worn out from their occupations and decide to get a haircut for a fresh new start.

43.Boyfriend"Witch"
Label: Starship Entertainment
Release: October 12, 2014

Members of Boyfriend transforms into sexy vampires for "Witch," and it has to be the most masculine yet seductive concept that the group had so far. The MV also has its own theme of six eerily magnetic idols trying to win against a powerful witch. The use of red and black drapes also adds onto the overall mysteriousness of the MV.

42.Taeyang"Eyes, Nose, Lips"
Label: YG Entertainment
Release: June 2, 2014

Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" starts off interesting enough. Against the backdrop of a melancholy tune, the MV zooms out so that viewers start with Taeyang's face to his lonely, vacant surroundings. However, as unique as the concept is, it gets boring fast as most of the MV is spent panning out from Taeyang's lipsyncing.

41.JYJ"Back Seat"
Label: CJES
Release: July 28, 2014

The ever sexy JYJ members are back to seduce you, this time in their "Back Seat." A dark MV that plays with lights as well as shots of makeout sessions, it's definitely an eye-catching video that will hold any fangirl's attention just for the amount of sex appeal unfolding before their eyes.

40.Girl'sDay"Darling"
Label: Dream T Entertainment
Release: July 13, 2014

The girls were absolutely adorable in this MV. Although the MV concept isn't anything new in the K-Pop world, it was still a fun addition to the summer singles of the year. Besides, the bright colors, cute outfits, and cheerful smiles are always a plus for any summery MV. Also thatHyericupcake lip may or may not have earned the group more points.

39.2PM"Go Crazy"
Label: JYP Entertainment
Release: September 9, 2014

The MV is overly flashy, but super entertaining to watch. This reenactment of a typical party scene is based heavily on the performance and lacks any back story whatsoever. Still, it's always fun to watch the beastly boys of 2PM running around as if they have lost their minds.

38.Super Junior"MAMACITA"
Label: SM Entertainment
Release: August 28, 2014

Transformed into idol-cowboys, Super Junior never seems to fail when it comes to entertaining their fans with kooky concepts mixed with the usual flashing lights that SM Entertainment loves so much. These lights, however, seems to have magical powers as every one of Super Junior boys look exceptional in the MV. Not to mention their choreography is always on point, whether it is funny or just plain cool.

37.SISTAR"Touch my Body"
Label: Starship Entertainment
Release: July 20, 2014

This has to be one of the best eye candy MVs of the year. Wearing their itsy-bitsy flower bottoms and pairing it with a black crop top, the girls look phenomenal as usual, shaking their healthy booties in front of a pastel-themed background. This would have to be the perfect go-to MV for that one summer day; when the sun is high and you just can't seem to move from the heat, Sistar is sure to help cool you down with "Touch My Body."

askkpop's Top 50 K-Pop MVs of 2014: 50-31
36.INFINITE"Back"
Label: Woolim Entertainment
Release: July 20, 2014

You will never see INFINITE surrounded by so much blood in their MV. It's a nice change of pace from their usual choreography-focused videos. And if we were really being honest ,the MV moves the heart in strange ways, especially when you see flower boyLgetting hurt. Although... the cliff hanger ending also leaves a bad taste in the mouth and gets us thinking, "So... did they get the girl or not!?"

35.Jung Joong Young x Younha"Just The Way You Are"
Release: May 28, 2014

This particular MV has a very obvious lesson about how people should love one another no matter what the differences are and, like the title states, "just the way you are." It is a sweet and touching MV that will hit you right in the heart.

34.2BiC"Love Game"

Release: April 9, 2014

Here is a scenario every girl probably faced at least once in their lifetime. Your crush or your lover called you unexpectedly to come out, but of course you are totally not ready for this. You look like a mess and smell like even worse mess, but you desperately need to be on your A-game for this boy. 33.Girl's Day"Something"
Label: Dream T Entertainment
Release: January 2, 2014

Girl's Day makes it, yet again, to the list with "Something." The theme of the video is not out of the ordinary. The point of the MV was to highlight the girls and how pretty they look in their revealing outfits. And somehow, it worked. From its coy choreography to the flashing lights of the set and even the way the girls flirt with the camera, "Something" is a MV that you can't keep your eyes off of.

32.Fly to the Sky"You You You"
Label: H2 Media
Release: May 19, 2014

The story goes that Brian and his lover gets into an accident and, while Brian is in the hospital, waiting for an organ transplant, the girl loses her memory and starts believing that she is in love with Hwanhee, a close friend of the two. Hwanhee, who was already in love with the girl, stays by her side even through her hysteric moments. Then, Brian wakes up and tries to get back what was once his. The MV takes you on an emotional roller coaster, and if you want to know what happens in the end, check out the MV!

31.Mino"I'm Him"
Label: YG Entertainment
Release: August 30, 2014

This is one MV that is decked out in computer graphics everywhere. This is a good example of where unrealistic computer graphics bombarding your screen actually worked to its advantage. The only person in the MV is Mino, but because of all the computer graphics that were added, the screen was much fuller and much more entertaining to watch.
