20.Girls' Generation"Mr.Mr

Album: 4th Mini Album Mr. Mr.
Label: SM Entertainment
Release: February 24, 2014

allkpop Review

Although it may not be their best release, Girls' Generation's "Mr. Mr." lands in at 20 on our list. This song is full of instrumental ear candy (especially that bridge!) and features a lot of fun adlibs. A song with energy and an exhilarating build up towards the end, the girls prove that they've still got what it takes to give us a catchy song and to pull off performances with style, complete in dashing blazers.

19.Block B"Her"
Album: Her
Label: Seven Seasons
Release: July 24, 2014

Block B's "Her" is definitely a track to remember. The beat is full of energy and there is no one layer that really stands out. The distribution of the parts are executed perfectly and, of course, Zico kills his part. Overall, it's an absolute blast to listen to, and it further confirms Block B's status as one of the best in the K-Pop scene.

18.B.A.P"1004"
Album: First Sensibility
Label: TS Entertainment
Release: February 3, 2014

Daehyun's vocals really shines in "1004." His signature shouting-technique is quite emotional and the emotions are amplified with the deep lyrics. The sudden change of pace in the hook really helps build up to the climax of the song. Listening to the song, you can feel the pain and the hysteria that one may go through when losing a person one really loves. Listen carefully for the short breaks in the chorus for a more chilling effect.

17.INFINITE"Back"
Album: Be Back"
Label: Woolim Entertainment
Release: July 22, 2014

It's always admirable when a group doesn't find the need to include a rap part to a track. And it's even more praiseworthy when that track is as good as Infinite's "Back." What really stands out in this track is Hoya's solo that follows Sunggyu's as well as Dongwoo's part towards the end. It shows that these boys are malleable enough to take on any part within the group and it'll be seamless. And as always, Sunggyu's vocals continues to stand out as it seems to improve with each track released.

16.SISTAR"Touch My Body"
Album: Touch N Move
Label: Starship Entertainment
Release: July 21, 2014
allkpop Review

It would be a shame to not have one of SISTAR's tracks named as one of the top 50 songs of the year. This time around it wasn't just Hyorin's vocals that stole the spotlight, but rather Soyu's airy but sweet vocals, creating a nice balance to the strong jazzy beat. It is the perfect track for the Summer, and listening to it now, it can even have you feeling nostalgic for the hot, summer days.

15.IU"The Meaning Of You"
Album: Flower Bookcase
Label: Loen Entertainment
Release: May 15, 2014

IU had an extraordinary album release full of remakes of hit songs from the past. It's hard to remake old songs with the right balance of modern while preserving the old-time nostalgic feeling of the song. But IU did everything right in her album, and especially for the song, "The Meaning of You." The song perfectly demonstrates the depth of IU's vocals as well as her ability to adapt her voice to all kinds of genres.

14.VIXX"Eternity"
Album: Eternity
Label: Jellyfish Entertainment
Release: May 27, 2014

VIXX is one of the groups to have made a strong impact in the K-Pop scene over the past year. "Eternity" has a classic K-Pop sound that bombards your ears with electronic beats that mimic the consistent beating of the heart. But the track has a strong dose of addictiveness that has your mouse hovering over the replay button. The group has won multiple awards on music shows with 'Eternity,' and even received praise for their surprising comeback.

13.AOA"Miniskirt"
Album: Miniskirt
Label: FNC Entertainment
Release: January 16, 2014

AOA's song "Miniskirt" by itself--even without the aided visuals of the MV--is sexy. With its catchy "Hey" chant, playful chuckles, and vocals going deliciously high-pitched for "high heels" and "stockings," this song is devilishly addictive and refuses to get out of your head. Not that we mind. ChoA's and Yuna's lovely adlibs at the end are just icing on the cake.

12.B2ST"12:30"
Album: Time
Label: Cube Entertainment
Release: October 20, 2014
allkpop Review

Just when you thought that they can't get any better, B2ST proves everyone wrong with "12:30" and like some Dallas Cowboys fans, you have everyone jumping back on the bandwagon. It's already widely known that Yoseob had pushed the boundaries of his vocal range with this track. But I think Doojoon deserves the spotlight as he really drills in the the verses that leads up to the chorus with his nasally but attention-grabbing vocals.

11.Yoon Mi Rae"Angel"
Label: Feel Ghood Music
Release: December 8, 2014

Some might be surprised to see this track ranked so high, but this is a track that truly deserves to be here. Yoon Mi Rae, especially when she collaborates with her hip-hop husband Tiger JK, always drops uplifting tracks with lyrics filled with heart-wrenching stories. A lot has happened in the past year for the hip-hop couple from dealing with betrayals, to death in the family. And the outcome was "Angel," where Yoon Mi Rae sings about the loves of her life and how they have supported the couple throughout it all. They describe it as 'not your typical a love story, but a love story of lives of people who are not the same.'
