"Hwarang", the story of beautiful youths 1,500 years ago

Handsome boys from 1,500 years ago are coming to 2016.

The new KBS 2TV drama"Hwarang"is commencing on December 19. The cast and crew are finally ready to come out as it's expected to be one of the best dramas in the second half of 2016.

One of the reasons"Hwarang"is in the spotlight is because of the subject matter. The drama is about 'flower knights' that existed in the Seorabol 1,500 years ago. There have been appearances of these 'hwarangs' every now and then in dramas but there never was a drama dedicated entirely to it.

"The prettiest of men were chosen and made into a"Hwarang"and the crowd gathered like clouds. Some of the occasionally researched morals, some music and they hiked mountains. They went everywhere. When they learned about the right and wrongs of character, the most righteous one was chosen and recommended".

This is how history describes the"Hwarang". We know of some hwarangs like Kim Yoo-sin and Gwan Chang but we don't know how they came to be and how they centered the Shilla Millennium Empire. Clever imagination has been added to the story of hwarangs from 1,500 years ago.

The time when youth was the center of the world was the time when people weren't afraid to fight the world to stand up for what they believed was right and their values. That's what"Hwarang"is about. Their lives may mean a lot to us today.
