"Ordinary Man" preview, spring in 1987 and 2017

Spring of 1987 was the peak of military dictatorship and the people from back then are ringing a bell to us in 2017.

"Ordinary Man"is about a detective named Kang Seong-jin (Son Hyeon-joo) who lived an ordinary life in 1987 but then gets involved in a national crisis that is a serial murder and begins losing his life as a whole. The turbulent period the people experienced in 1987 seems to overlap with 2017.

"The world is only pretending to change, it won't change"

Would it be? Gyu-nam (Jang Hyeok) was a successful prosecutor until he became the big shot of National Security Planning. His principles and beliefs are strongly clear like his line "Sunny or shady, it's all for the good of the country".

Seong-jin was just a detective who wanted to be happy with his family. including reporter Jae-jin (Kim Sang-ho) who strived for clarity and simplicity, the many people from that year try to break a rock with an egg. However, at the end of the day, joy comes to the people who go through hardship.

'Thriller King'Son Hyeon-joois an ordinary head of the household in this movie. The scene where he's upset because his leg-crippled son Min-gook (Kang Hyeon-goo) gets bullied by his peers and the scene where he scrapes off banana from the peel after giving his wife Jeong-sook (Ra Mi-ran) and Min-gook the remains, which reflects our fathers today. His line, "Do you even use lotion?" to his friend Jae-jin makes him even more humane.

Jang Hyeokis a monster of the generation. He only has interest for the security of the country and his safety. He is so remote and inattentive to anything else, he almost seems painful.

The movie portrays the scent of the 1980s. The police station when Seong-jin works and the stew place Seong-jin and Jae-jin go in and out of for drinks takes you back to those days.

"Ordinary Man"is due for release on March 23rd.
