On the fifth episode of the KBS 2TV drama"The Man In My House", Ko Nan-gil (Kim Yeong-kwang) looked back on the process of which he became Hong Na-ri's (Soo-ae) step father.

In the past, Hong Na-ri's mother (Kim Mi-Sook) became a mother to Ko Nan-gil who was raised in an orphanage. He was jealous of Hong Na-ri for having such a mother but he wanted to have her as his mother so he decided to marry Hong Na-ri.

However, he was adopted by Bae Byeong-woo (Park Sang-myeon) and had to live the life of a gangster and he couldn't approach the mother and daughter anymore. Then when he found out that Hong Na-ri's house had a debt of a billion won, he registered himself as her mother's husband to protect them.

Hong Na-ri remembered him and ran to him. She hugged him and cried.
