[ASKKPOP] SM Entertainment addresses Luhan and Kris' solo activities in China
SM Entertainmenthas publicly addressed its position onKrisandLuhan's solo activities in China as well as the agency's intent to sue the Chinese companies that have used Luhan as a spokesmodel.
Luhan's lawsuit against SM Entertainment to dissolve his contract is still ongoing, but it seems he is still technically an SME artist. The agency stated on May 20,"AsEXOmember Luhan andKris' agency, we've officially planned two lawsuits against a cosmetic company based in Shanghai and a technology company in Beijing that used Luhan, who is arbitrarily promoting in China, as an endorsement model. The suits were filed at the Beijing People's Court on May 18, 2015."
SME continued,"In order to protect the legal interests of SM and EXO, we are adding legal action to the two lawsuits for damages we raised in February in Shanghai and Hong Kong."The label also asserted that both Luhan and Kris pursued lawsuits for termination of their contracts after gaining popularity through SME, and they both used this popularity to promote in movies, advertisements, festivals, and events with indiscretion.
By ignoring their contracts with SME, the currently inactive EXO members have also caused issues with promotional contracts made with Korean companies. SME concluded,"Both their acts are morally wrong actions that have hurt the honor of the company and the other members, and they're also obviously illegal acts."
